Professor Elizabeth Meggs‘ artwork will be featured in an upcoming juried show at the Edward Hopper House Art Center,  which runs from September 22nd– November 13, 2011, with an opening reception on September 24th, from 5-7 pm.

Juried by Avis Berman and Elizabeth Thompson Colleary, the show is entitled “Interior/Exterior: Small Matters of Great Importance”, and celebrates the 40th anniversary of Edward Hopper’s boyhood home’s operation as a non-profit art center.  Each artist in this exhibition explores the interior/exterior relationship in an original way.  That interplay is frequently represented in Hopper’s art, whether it is physical spaces or psychological states.  As Hopper said “Great art is the outward expression of an inner life in the artist, and this inner life will result in his personal vision of the world.”
