Professor Mary Edwards traveled to two conferences in October to read two scholarly papers. The first was entitled “A Comparative Analysis of the Pictorial Cycles of the Life of Saint Lucy Painted in Italy during the Late Medieval Period” and was presented on October 15, 2011 at the annual Southeastern Medieval Conference, held this year at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. The second was entitled ”A Comparative Analysis of the Pictorial Cycles of Saint Lucy Painted in Italy between 1384 and 1462″ and was read on October 22 at the annual Patristic, Medieval and Renaissance Conference at the Villanova University. Both papers related the narrative cycles in question to those painted by Altichiero in Padua between 1379 and 1384.
