Professor Jack Toolin‘s Iraqi memorial project, My Space for Your Life, is currently on display at Works/San José Gallery in San Jose, CA, and will be up from Nov. 4th until Dec.10th, 2011.

The intention of this project is to raise consciousness around the issue of ‘collateral damage’, a term devised to disguise the deaths of unarmed civilians. The people featured in the photos have agreed to ‘stand in’ for the killed civilians named in the signs, ostensibly carrying their prematurely extinguished lives into the virtual community of Facebook.
