Charles Eppley, visiting assistant instructor in the department of history and design, has chaired a panel on sound and space at the 2013 Southeastern College Art Conference (SECAC).
The panel, Soundsites: Experiments in Sound and Place, showcased new research by emerging and established scholars on sound-based artistic practice. Focusing on works of site-specific art and architecture, the panel examined notions of site and place, immateriality, the acoustic unconscious, and cultures of listening. The panel aimed to present and highlight sound as an important paradigm for modern and contemporary art.
