Joseph Kopta will present a paper at the 41st Annual Byzantine Studies Conference. His paper, titled “Hair, Touch, and the Ivory Comb of Leo VI as an Agent of Imperial Order” will address the phenomenology of the senses in a new reading of the well-known Middle Byzantine ivory object now identified as a comb. The Byzantine Studies Conference will take place October 22–25, 2015 in New York.
