Congratulations to Professor Morton’s Published Essay

Professor Marsha Morton has recently published “Rudolf von Eitelberger and Leopold Carl Müller: Constructing a Genre of Viennese Orientalism” in Rudolf Eitelberger von Edelberg: Netzwerker der Kunstwelt, eds. Eva Kernbauer, Patrick Werkner, and Raphael Rosenberg, et al, Vienna: Böhlau Verlag, 2019, pp. 291-312.

The essays in this anthology were originally presented at a conference on von Eitelberger in Vienna at the Museum of Applied Arts in April 2017.  Von Eitelberger was the first professor of art history at the University of Vienna and founded the Museum of Applied Arts and the School of Art and Design during the late 19th century. He was a patron of Leopold Carl Müller, the first Viennese Orientalist artist who lived much of his life in Cairo painting scenes of the Islamic Arab working class.
