Prof. Hofrichter Will Be the Speaker at the Talk “Rediscovering Judith Leyster” on Jan. 29

Professor Frima Fox Hofrichter will join curator Nicole Cook to speak at the talk “Rediscovering Judith Leyster” hosted by The Philadelphia Museum of Art on Jan. 29, 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

The installation “What Can Paintings Tell Us?” highlights discoveries from the museum’s recent research on several paintings from the 1400s through the 1700s. Featured are multiple works linked to female artists, including Judith Leyster, whose identity was lost and her works misattributed for many years. Installation curator Nicole Cook frames this program with the questions that led her to highlight Leyster’s The Last Drop and other women artists in the installation and scholar Frima Hofrichter charts Leyster’s career and her pioneering research that reintroduced this artist to history.

Please note this is a free talk and registration is required. Please register by the day before.
