Professor Anca Lasc will be presenting a paper titled “Designed in Wax: Creating and Selling the Modern Woman, Business as Usual” in a session titled Women in a World Designed by Men on February 13th at the CAA 108th annual conference in Chicago, Illinois.

On February 14th, she will also be leading an Idea Exchange at the CAA conference on Interiors History: The State of the Field: Conference participants working on the interdisciplinary subject of interiors are invited to share their experience in this roundtable discussion. What other forums have they used to present their work? Where have they published? What does it mean to study and teach the history of interiors and/or the interior design profession? Discussants: Imogen Hart (UC Berkeley), Livia Rezende (University of New South Whales, Australia), Victoria Pass (MICA), and Megha Rajguru (University of Brighton, UK).

Professor Erica Morawski and Professor Lasc will also be co-leading an Idea Exchange titled Designing the Design History Curriculum. Here, faculty who teach or are involved in curriculum planning are invited to share strategies, questions, and concerns about design history courses. Issues including thematic units, period, geography, assignments, grading, and how these courses relate to departmental curriculum or studio practice will be covered. Discussants will be: Catherine Whalen (Bard Graduate Center, New York), Bess Williamson (Art History, Theory and Criticism Department, School of the Art Institute of Chicago), and Yelena McLane (Department of Interior Architecture and Design, Florida State University).
